He was most recently Co-Founder, Chairman and Chief Executive of Assurent Secure Technologies where he managed the evolution of this products and services company into a highly profitable, high growth (700% over 4 yrs) operating entity with security products, culminating in a successful sale to Telus Corporation. Mr. Mahabir was previously the CIO at RBC Capital Markets and RBC Dominion Securities.

He is recognized as one of the industry’s top CIOs, having served in senior executive positions including four CIO roles with Fortune 500 companies. His systems work for innovation and delivery at Fortune 500 companies has won international acclaim and been recognized by many, including the Smithsonian. He was inducted into the Canadian Information Productivity Hall of Fame for his innovation and delivery at Sunoco, General Electric and Toronto Police and was named by CIO Magazine as one of Canada’s top CIOs. Currently, Mr. Mahabir also serves as a Board Member and a Business Advisor to the Senior Management and boards of several Corporations in the US, Canada and Europe including Omazo Ventures Inc.

rbc7_32Dr. Sonya Graci is a specialist in sustainable tourism, corporate sustainability and environmental management and has over 15 years experience in these fields. Dr. Graci is currently an Assistant Professor at the Ted Rogers School of Hospitality and Tourism Management at Ryerson University. She’s also the Director of Accommodating Green, an environmental consulting organization that works with the hospitality industry to integrate sustainability in business operations. Dr. Graci is also the founder of The Icarus Foundation, a not for profit that focuses on creating a sustainable tourism industry in Canada. Dr. Graci, a leading expert on sustainable strategies and implementation for the tourism industry. Dr. Graci lived and studied for several years in China, eventually completing her PhD at the University of Waterloo which focused on strategies for implementing environmental practices in the Sanya, Hainan hotel industry. Dr. Graci is a widely published author in this subject, writing more than 35 books, journal articles, conference proceedings and reports. Her most recent book is entitled “Can Hotels Accommodate Green? Examining Environmental Commitment in the Hotel Industry”.

Ron Dizy is currently the President & CEO of Sempa Power, a company delivering economically compelling hybrid heating solutions for commercial buildings. Ron joined Sempa Power in 2007, after leaving Celtic House Venture Partners, where he was a partner, responsible for sourcing deals, making investment decisions and working with portfolio companies. Before joining Celtic House in 2000, Ron was a portfolio manager in the venture capital group at the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan, where he helped to establish the asset class for Teachers, making both fund commitments and direct investments. He began his career at Andersen Consulting in 1987, then joined venture-backed startup AICorp as principal knowledge engineer in 1990. In 1992, Ron co-founded Altera Systems, a consulting firm focused on business applications of artificial intelligence.

Mr. Dizy currently serves on the board of Sempa Power and AceTech, and has previously served on the boards of MEMSIC (Nasdaq:MEMS), Avalere (acquired by Iron Mountain), Camilion Solutions, Sirific Wireless, FastLane Technologies (acquired by Quest Software), Grocery Gateway (acquired by Longo’s), Incanta, Ironbridge Networks, ITF Optical Technologies, Nexia Biotechnologies (TSX), Pinpoint Local Positioning Systems and ViXS Systems.

He hold a B.Eng. and a M.Sc. in Environmental Engineering from Sichuan University at Chengdu, China, a Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from Tsinghua University at Beijing, and a MBA from Queen’s University at Kingston, Ontario.

Alan started his career with Chinese government in Beijing as a project officer who oversaw international environmental projects. He then completed his post-doctoral research in Singapore on a wastewater treatment project funded by Du Pont Singapore. In 2007 he joined Ontario AMinistry of the Environment as a Senior Waste Engineer after been worked as a Business Consultant with Hatch Consulting and an Energy Consultant with Altech Environmental Consulting respectively.

A serial Entrepreneur he has founded several companies around the world including being co-founder of Planet Intra in Mountain View, California, a Knowledge Management software and services company. In 1996, Suresh co-founded Pacific Connections in Hong Kong, a web-based solutions development company that grew to become a leading brand in the Hong Kong market. It was sold with great shareholder value to China.Com, Inc (NASDAQ : CHINA).

From 1994 to 1997, Suresh was the President Asia for Rapp Collins Worldwide (a $2 billion CRM services firm, part of the Omnicom Group ). He launched the Asian operations for Rapp Collins Worldwide in Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore and Indonesia through acquisitions and joint ventures.

From 1982 to 1994, Suresh was with the J. Walter Thompson Company (A WPP Group Company) in various markets and positions, most recently as President of JWT Dialog Asia Pacific and Senior Partner, with operational and P&L responsibility for 11 offices in 9 countries in the region.

Suresh received his Bachelor of Science Degree from St Stephens College, New Delhi. He has attended executive management programs at MIT, Duke and Babson and sits on the Advisory Board at Omazo Ventures.

J Haynes launched his first software firm for the energy sector. A few VC rounds and a major acquisition later the company was acquired by Enbridge (ENB:TSX), and the products grew to over $1B in revenue. A couple years later he took the North American business public (KNX:TSXV) . Most recently J helped Medshare develop a strategic growth plan which included becoming a leading BlackBerry application provider and raising a round of capital. He is now the COO at CoreWorx. J has a BSc in Water resources engineering, MSc in Bioengineering with a focus on Alternate Energy and is on University of Guelph School of Engineering Board - one of Canada’s leading Cleantech Engineering schools.

frankdudeFrank Atkinson is the founder and first president of the Western Association of Venture Capitalists (Menlo Park, California), the first venture capital trade organization in the industry worldwide. Frank currently acts as an advisor to venture investors and entrepreneurs from London to California.

Frank played football for Stanford while completing his BA, going on to do his MBA at Anderson School of Business (UCLA). More recently he co-founded InterArab Investment Fund, a venture fund which made equity investments in Jordan, the Palestinian Territories and Oman.

Included in the list of many VC type organizations that Frank has held management level positions at are, Continental Capital Corporation, Triad Venture Capital, Imperial Bank and HMS Group.
